HIMIG KABATAAN CHOIR

Himig Kabataan (meaning "youthful melody" or "melody of the youth") is the first Filipino Choral Music Ensemble based in the Metro Vancouver area. This choir welcomes members ages 13-23 who have a passion for choral music and an interest in learning about Filipino culture through its beautiful music. Himig Kabataan focuses on learning and performing pieces arranged or composed by Filipino songwriters in languages including English, Tagalog, and many other Filipino dialects.

Their debut was in August of 2022 at the UPAABC Balagtasan. Himig Kabataan has had the privilege of participating in Filipino cultural events all over the lower mainland, including Surrey's Filipino Fest in late September.

WINGS VOCAL COLLECTIVE

Wings Vocal Collective (WVC) is a group of passionate and versatile vocal performers based in the Metro Vancouver area. Our members come from different backgrounds, training, and walks of life, but have the common goal of creating a unique and powerful musical experience for audiences in the community. WVC has also performed and competed across North America. They were semi-finalists in the International Competition of A Cappella Open in 2017 and were featured performers in VGH UBC Hospital Foundation’s two flagship galas: “Time To Shine” and “Night of a Thousand Stars.”

The goal of WVC is to bring our community closer to the arts by creating opportunities for people to experience vocal music in its sincerest, most accessible form. With many of our singers coming from a Filipino background, this collaboration with PhilCAS of B.C. gives our group the opportunity to showcase the love of their cultural heritage through the art of singing. WVC is excited to be serving the Filipino Canadian community in Metro Vancouver by sharing the gift of music.
