On August 8 2020, PhilCAS participated in CIOFF’s 50th Anniversary
NORTH AMERICAN SECTOR CIOFF INTERNATIONAL WORLDWIDE FOLKLORE MARATHON
CIOFF 50th Anniversary North American Sector
4:00 pm Central – 5:00 pm EasternCanada PhilCas, British Colombia PhilCAS will be doing a learn to dance of “Aray” from the Maria Clara Suite. Aray Is a dance whose words are sung in “Chabacano-ermitense,” a hybrid of Spanish that was only spoken in the Ermita district before the turn of the century and today is extinct. The dance itself is a flirtatious one that involves graceful use of the pañuelo, or shawl by the women and tambourines held by the men.
The two trainers will be : Leandro Sublay and Andrea Banzon.
